Cooperation in 3 FI

Last week we work on cooperation in 3 FI.

One of the activities we did was a paper chain challenge.

Students were divided into small groups. Each group had one piece of construction paper. The challenge for the group was to try to make the longest paper chain possible using just one piece of construction paper.

They were given five minutes to complete the challenge.

At the end of the challenge, we discussed what worked and what was difficult when cooperating with your team.

Check them out!

Another cooperation activity we worked on was called Cooperation Detective.

One students was a Cooperation Detective, another was a Work Together Leader, and the rest of the students were Class Cooperators. The Work Together Leader’s job was to create small movements for the rest of the class to follow (tap their knee, wave their hand, touch their nose, etc.). The Cooperation Detective’s job was to figure out who was the Work Together Leader. The Class Cooperator’s job was to follow the movements of the Work Together Leader without giving away who that leader is.

It was so much fun to watch this activity. We had some excellent Cooperation Detectives! Check it out:

Valentine’s Day in 3 FI

Today we celebrated Valentine’s Day in 3 FI!

We did art, ate cupcakes, played Bingo in math, passed out Valentines and had a great time!

Our first art activity was marble art. Students cut out paper hearts and put them into trays. Then they used spoons to move a marble from their paint to their tray. Then they had to move their tray around so their marble would roll to create a painted line:

Our next art activity was with chalk pastels. Students cut heart shapes out of card stock . Then they then had to use pastel to trace around their heart.  They pushed the pastel onto a new piece of paper, creating a smudged look:

We also had a lot of fun passing out our Valentine’s day cards and eating treats:

What a great day in 3 FI!

Graduation #11 and Responsibility!

Friday we had our 11th graduation this year.

We graduated Andrée Anguille, a few sight words and four reading strategies.

Josie was our ‘Master of Ceremonies’ and she did a super job. Check it out!

We also spent some time discussing responsibility this week in 3 FI and how it’s important to be able to ‘juggle’ different responsibilities.

We played a game where students stood in a circle and we passed François, Mickey and Professeur Réchauffe-Coeur around. We pretended that each of the stuffies represented our responsibilities and discussed what happens when you drop the stuffies and what happens when you drop responsibilities.
